Welcome to Pukerangi Country Retreat. Pukerangi means ‘hills of heaven’ and the name is well suited to the place.
The best way to reach it is to ride the scenic Taieri Gorge train from Dunedin to Barewood Station, a vast high-country farm in the rolling hills of the iconic Otago Province. As you disembark at Pukerangi Railway Station, you will notice a villa-style stone farmhouse resting against the backdrop of an idyllic pastoral setting. You have arrived.
Sip a cool drink on the front porch, and admire the spectacular views of the Rock and Pillar mountain range. Relax and stay a while.
Respectfully renovated, the gracious 100-year-old farmhouse has four double bedrooms, each uniquely themed, offering a luxurious complement of fine linens, feather-down duvets, and natural New Zealand toiletries. With equal grace, the homestead accommodates couples seeking a romantic getaway, or larger groups wishing to occupy the house in its entirety. A hearty continental or cooked breakfast is included in the tariff. For evening meals, the homestead’s fully appointed kitchen can be made available for self-catering.
Guests are invited to relax in the gracious parlour with open fireplace, surround-sound stereo and library. In fine weather, a furnished porch and patio barbeque beckon guests to unwind al fresco. Warm and friendly hosts with extensive knowledge of the area and its history will ensure your visit is both comfortable and memorable.
